In his book Brain Wave Vibration, author and philosopher Ilchi Lee explains how the practice was born and how people can use it in their own homes to open their minds and improve their health.
In an introductory section titled The Birth of Brain Wave Vibration, Lee tells how the method began as simple vibration exercises until he came to realize the power and integral role the brain plays for this enlightenment-promoting exercise.
Lee began teaching his techniques in a public park, showing people stretching exercises based on his martial arts teachings. He was successful in helping a stroke victim improve his movement through stretching based on the meridians that carry energy through the body.
As time went on, Lee had an epiphany as he felt the changes he had made in his brain.
"It was like my head was about to explode, and then suddenly everything seemed clear and an unshakable sense of peace and oneness came over me," Lee wrote.
His body of students began to increase as word spread about the effectiveness of Brain Wave Vibration. He eventually went on to found Dahn Yoga and develop his own form of non-violent martial arts called DahnMuDo.
