The Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and
Spiritual Leaders at the U.N
For the first time in history, religious
and spiritual leaders of the world's diverse faith traditions came together in
New York from August 28th to August 31st, 2000 to discuss how to forge a partnership
of peace with the United Nations. More than 1,000 spiritual leaders participated
at this Summit. The goal of the Religious Summit was to identify ways that the
worldwide religious and spiritual communities can work together as interfaith
allies with the United Nations on specific peace, poverty and environmental initiatives.
